Jin S. Chung Award

Request for Nomination by September 15, 2010

In 2003, the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE) established the Jin S. Chung Award to recognize an outstanding researcher or practicing engineer in the ocean and polar environment.

This award honors Professor Jin S. Chung for his extraordinary academic and industrial accomplishments in the offshore and polar engineering and related fields, for his many years of selfless volunteerism and leadership in promoting professional fellowship among ocean and polar colleagues, and for having guided the growth of these fields to their present compelling size, importance and recognition.

The ISOPE Awards Committee asks for your assistance in making a nomination for the Jin S. Chung Award to be given at the 2011 ISOPE Conference in Maui, Hawaii, USA. Your nominee should be recognized for an outstanding scientific and/or technical contribution to the field of offshore and polar engineering such as

● A scientific discovery
● New theories or design methods
● Engineering design/concepts
● Engineering products/services

The nominee can be at any stage in his/her career and the contribution either can be a lifetime achievement or a significant achievement over a shorter period. The nominee shall have exhibited high professional and ethical standards. Nominated candidates need not be ISOPE members, nor previously involved with ISOPE activities. Award candidates will be evaluated solely on their contributions to the fields of offshore and polar engineering.
