The 2009 ISOPE Awards Presented to:

Professors Naito and Osawa, Osaka University

 

 

Cupertino, California, August 28, 2009 ¾ Prof. Wataru Koterayama, president (2008-09), announced that the co-recipients of the 2009 ISOPE Award are Prof. Shigeru Naito and Prof. Naoki Osawa, both with Osaka University, Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering,

 

Profs. Naito and Osawa as conference co-chair and secretariat respectively organized and executed the successful International Ocean and Polar Engineering Conference (ISOPE-2009), Osaka, June 21-26.  Prof. Koterayama, Kyushu University, presented the Award plaques to both at the Annual ISOPE Conference Banquet, Osaka International Convention Center, June 24, 2009.

 

The award was in recognition of their dedication and invaluable contribution to the Society as Japan organizing committee chair and the organization of the Nineteenth (2009) International Offshore and Polar Engineering Conference, Osaka, Japan, June 21-26, 2009.

 

 

The conference papers are all peer-reviewed for inclusion in the Proceedings of 19th International Offshore and Polar Engineering Conference, ISOPE (ISBN 1-978-1-880653-53-1; ISSN 1098-6189). Some 890 participants enjoyed technical fellowship and knowledge exchange. Some 70% of the participants from 50 countries traveled to Japan.
