Five Outstanding Graduate Students Received

Offshore Mechanics Scholarships

 

Vancouver, Canada, July 9, 2008 ¾ The International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE) announced the 5 recipients of the 2008-2009 ISOPE Offshore Mechanics Scholarships for outstanding graduate students as follows:

 

Mr. Matthew B. Greytak, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, M.I.T., USA

Mr. Osama A. Marzouk, Dept. of Engineering Science & Mechanics, Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, USA

Mr. Rudi Walujo Prastianto, Dept. of Marine System Engineering, Osaka Prefecture University, Japan

Mr. Zhenhe Song, Dept. of Civil Engineering, Curtin University of Technology, Australia

Ms. Chen Xie, Dept. of Civil Engineering, Texas A&M University, USA

 

The Award Committee received 11 applications with outstanding records for 2008-2009. Prof. Richard Miksad, Award Committee chair (2007-2008), University of Virginia presented the certificates and $700 prize to each of the recipients at the annual banquet, Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel, July 9. All recipients presented their papers at the annual ISOPE-2008 Vancouver conference which were accepted after peer review. 83 graduate students participated in the conference.  

 

The scholarship application deadline for 2009-2010 academic year is April 6, 2009. Graduate students and entering new graduate students from all continents can apply who study and/or conduct research in any fields in or related to offshore mechanics, ocean and arctic engineering and related fields.
