Two New Symposia at ISOPE-2007:
Strain-Based Design of Pipelines and Nanomaterials
CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA, October 06 ― Two New Symposia on Strain-Based Design of Pipelines and Nanomaterials will be introduced at the 17th International Offshore and Polar Engineering Conference & Exhibition ¾ISOPE-2007 Lisbon, at Corinthia Hotel, Lisbon on July 1-6, 2007.
Strain-based design (SBD) generally refers to pipeline designs expected to have longitudinal strains greater than 0.5%. SBD in recent years has been driven primarily by the need to construct pipelines in the arctic regions, deep-water offshore, and other areas with high probability of large ground movements. This symposium is the first forum dedicated to all aspects of science, technology, and applications of SBD of pipelines. It provides a unique and un-paralleled opportunity for discussions of recent advances in this important technology area.

The focus of this Symposium is to present current multidisciplinary research on nanostructured materials and nanotechnologies for structural applications with the primary focus of reinforcing the relationship between basic science and engineering at the nanoscale level. The Symposium aims to cover bulk materials, as well as films, coatings and nanocomposites. Particular emphasis is placed on work on processing, fabrication and applications of nanomaterials.
