ISOPE Offshore Mechanics Scholarship

                                                       For 2007-2008 School Year

 

                                  Application Deadline:    April 3, 2007

 

The International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE) encourages students to study and/or to conduct research in any fields in Offshore Mechanics and Polar Engineering, or to participate in the annual ISOPE Conferences. For this purpose, ISOPE grants scholarships of $700 each to outstanding graduate students and entering new graduate students for the academic year 2006-2007. Four to six scholarships were granted each year. The recipients are encouraged to join the ISOPE student membership.

 

Each scholarship offered is a competitive one.  Sex, race, age, religion, nationality, etc. are not factors for consideration. The awardees are selected by the ISOPE Award Committee vote. The committee members are balanced in geopolitical distribution.  No more than one scholarship shall be awarded in the same year to the applicants from one university.

(1) An official graduate school transcript for current graduate students, or the official undergraduate transcript for graduate students who didn’t complete 2 semesters and for entering graduate students; (2) a letter of recommendation from the thesis supervising faculty, department chairperson, or any ISOPE member, and (3) an application form.

ISOPE holds the Annual International Offshore and Polar Engineering Conferences (ISOPE) (with annual conference proceedings in 2,500–3,500 pages), and specialty and regional symposia with active graduate student participation. Its technical program has been the world's largest of its kind with refereed papers. ISOPE also publishes its principal periodical, Quarterly International Journal of Offshore and Polar Engineering.
