Dr. Seok Won Hong Appointed New Director General

Cupertino, California, May 23, 2005  Effective May 23 Dr. Seok Won Hong is appointed new director general of Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO), Daejeon, Korea.

Dr. Hong is a charter member of ISOPE and hosted the ISOPE PACOMS-2002 Daejeon. He is the local secretariat of the ISOPE-2005 Seoul. He and his group have been active in organizing technical sessions at the annual ISOPE Conferences and the Pacific-Asia Offshore Mechanics Symposium (PACOMS) in the field of hydrodynamics, ocean energy, deep-ocean mining and deep-ocean vehicle development and advanced ship technology. He earned BS degree in naval architecture from Seoul National University and PhD degree in applied mechanics from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. KRISO has the largest number of the ISOPE membership in Korea.
