ISOPE-2005 Seoul Conference Broke the Previous Attendance Record:
Participants from 47 countries including 98 graduate students.
Seoul, Korea June 25, 2005 ¾ The Conference executive committee (EC) and technical program committee (TPC) would like to thank the participants and sponsors, and local organizing committee (LOC) in particular for all the support for the successful ISOPE-2005 Seoul conference at COEX Convention Center. The 3rd High-Performance Materials (HPM) Symposium and the 1st Advanced Natural Gas Transport (ANGT) Symposium were held as part of the Conference.
The conference was sponsored by the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE) and Korea Society of Ocean Engineers (KSOE) ¾ formerly Korea Committee for Ocean Resources and Engineering (KCORE) with cooperating organizations.
ISOPE-2005 Seoul Conference Broke the Previous Attendance Record: 738 participants from 47 countries including 98 graduate students.
· More than 750 abstracts received: 690 manuscripts scheduled for review; 474 peer-reviewed papers in the conference proceedings; 16 oral presentations. The LOC received more than 200 abstracts inside as well as from outside Korea. There were 8 exhibitors.
· The first Student Forum was held at noon June 21. The student organization is being formed, and the faculty advisors from 3 continents are being appointed. At the suggestion from the participating students, ISOPE will post the Journal abstracts for LINK from Table of Contents, initially from 2005 issues.
· Participants came from: Korea, Japan, USA, Canada, Brazil, Russia, France, Norway, Greece, Russia, UK, Italy, Germany, ..., Iran, India, Saudi Arabia, Israel. The authors and co-authors are from 47 countries.
· Annual Conference Banquet, “ISOPE-POSCO Banquet” was seated to the COEX Intercontinental Hotel’s capacity.
· Ratio of (Industry + Engineering/Research Institutes) / University is about 50/50. Most of the world’s major oil & gas companies, heavy industries companies, steel companies participated.
The LOC's support of inviting abstracts, lending LCD/PC equipment, technical sessions, faculty/student volunteers and the well-organized on-site support were outstanding.
