2005 Session Organizer of the Year Award Goes to

Han-il Park, Korea Maritime University

Seoul, Korea, June 22, 2005 ¾ Prof. Jin S. Chung, Technical Program Committee (TPC) Chairman, announced that Prof. Han-il Park, Dean of Engineering, Korea Maritime University, Busan, Korea, is the recipient of the ISOPE-2005 Session Organizer of the Year Award.  He solicited 51 abstracts in ocean and offshore engineering and related fields.  The 2003 Session Organizer of the Year Award winner, Dr. Raghavan Ayer, ExxonMobil Research and Engineering, USA, presented the Award plaque to Prof. Park at the Annual ISOPE Conference Banquet, June 22; click on banquet photos.

The Session Organizer of the Year Award was established in 1997 by the Society’s Board of Directors to recognize an individual’s selfless effort and contribution to the organization of sessions at ISOPE conferences, and to encourage others to view that individual as a role model. At the annual banquet, the TPC chair of the ISOPE conference or a chair-designated TPC member presents the Session Organizer of the Year Award to a session organizer who has successfully invited the largest number of papers or successfully established and organized a new technical field of the Society in the prior year.
