Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39 and Ghiardelli Square are no more than a leisurely 30-minute walk from the hotel. But you can take the famous cable car, in case you are tired of walking. Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach can be reached in 15 minutes by bus.  See http://www.sanfranciscoonline.com  for more. The conference program in January 2006 provides more: www.isope.org .

Author Gene Fowler said: “Every individual should be allowed to love two cities-his/her own and San Francisco.” Besides its friendly citizens ¾ some 800,000 citizens out of 6 million in the entire SF Bay Area, San Francisco is famous for its natural and man-made beauty, and as cultural center, culinary center and technology center.  Two great universities and thousands of start-up companies with cutting edge technology are located in SF Bay Area.

Driving 20-40 minutes to the south of SFO, you enter the Silicon Valley: Palo Alto, Mountain View, Cupertino, Santa Clara and San Jose. ISOPE office is located in Mountain View, next to AOL and Nokia, 30 minutes south from SFO.

Some 91 sessions of refereed papers are organized in cooperation with its Technical Program Committee (TPC) members from 25 countries of the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE) and 24 international cooperating organizations. Delegates from over 45 countries will be attending, as in previous years. Since 1990, ISOPE has held 32 successful international conferences and symposia.
