Five Outstanding Graduate Students Received
Offshore Mechanics Scholarships
Toulon, France, May 26, 2004 ¾ The International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE) announced the 5 recipients of the 2004-2005 ISOPE Offshore Mechanics Scholarships for outstanding graduate students as follows:
Miss Alessandra Romolo, Department of Mechanics and Materials, University ‘Mediterranea’ of Reggio Calabria, Italy
Mr. Wen Chen, Department of Civil and Resources Engineering, University of Western Australia, Australia
Mr. Jaw Woei Boh, Department of Civil Engineering, National University of Singapore, Singapore
Mr. Rami M. El-Sherbiny, Department of Civil Engineering, University of Texas at Austin, USA
Mr. Bimal Shrestha, Department of Civil Engineering, Osaka Sangyo University, Japan
The Award Committee received 12 applications with outstanding records for 2004-2005. Prof. Ronald Knapp, the president-elect (2005-2006) presented the certificates and $500 checks to Miss Alessandra Romolo, Mr. Wen Chen, and Mr. Jaw Woei Boh at the annual banquet, Toulon, France, May 26: Click on banquet photos. These recipients presented their papers at the annual ISOPE-2004 Toulon conference which were accepted after peer review. Next year the Scholarship prize will go up to $700.
The scholarship application deadline for 2005-2006 academic year is March 31, 2005. Graduate students and entering new graduate students from all continents can apply, who study and/or conduct research in any fields in or related to Offshore Mechanics, Ocean and Polar Engineering.
