The purpose of the symposium is to provide a forum to discuss recent developments and advances in welding methods, weld metal design and welding of steels and alloys in the oil and gas and related industries.
Specific focus topics (www.isope.org) are listed below:
· Emerging welding processes such as friction stir welding, power beam welding, hybrid processes.
· Advanced welding approaches for LNG
· Advanced welding techniques for use in offshore oil and gas installations (TLP, FPSO, SPAR, compliant tower, risers, offloading, etc)
· Welding of non-ferrous structural materials
· Metallurgical advances for enhanced properties or improved productivity.
· Novel approaches to structural design enabled by advanced welding techniques
· Advances in fabrication and repair welding
Experts from ExxonMobil (Dr. R. Ayer and Dr. D. Fairchild), Nippon Steel (Dr. E. Tsuru), EWI (Mr. N. Ames), TWI (Dr. P. Threadgill), POSCO (Dr. Ki B Kang), Osaka University (Prof. Y. Komizo) and Tohoku University (Prof. H. Kokawa) are the leading organizers of sessions at this symposium.
