Cupertino, California, November 17, 2003 Friction Stir Welding (FSW) Symposium will be held as part of some 80-session ISOPE-2004 Toulon Conference, France, May 23-28, 2004.

Friction stir welding is an emerging materials joining technology, which could have significant impact on the design and performance of offshore structures, pipelines, flowlines, risers and other associated structures in the oil and gas production. Therefore, a special mini-symposium has been organized at ISOPE 2004 to provide a forum to discuss the topic with the offshore-industry community. The symposium will consist of presentation of peer-reviewed papers from leading experts in this field. It will cover a range of relevant science and engineering topics in FSW.

Abstracts of papers of significant results are invited. Email one-page abstract by December 15 to Dr. Raghavan Ayer, ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company, Fax to 908 730 3355 or Email an abstract to meetings@isope.org. Abstract must include the paper title, all authors’ and co-authors' names, affiliations, full addresses, and telephone and fax numbers and E-mail address of the corresponding author.
