2008 ISOPE Best Student Paper Award Presented to

an Outstanding Student at National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan

Vancouver, Canada, July 9, 2008 ¾ The International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE) announced the recipient of its Best Student Paper Award at the ISOPE-2008 Vancouver Banquet:

Observation of the Coherent Turbulent Structure under Breaking Wave

by Zhi-Cheng Huang, Shih-Chun Hsiao and Hwung-Hweng Hwung, Dept. of Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering, National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan

The paper was presented at the Eighteenth (2008) International Offshore and Polar Engineering Conference, Vancouver, Canada, July 6-11, 2008.

Prof. Richard Miksad, Award Committee Chairman, presented the Award plaque and Modi Prize to Mr. Zhi-Cheng Huang. Prof. Miksad explained that the Committee, after evaluating 54 nominations, 4 papers were short-listed by Technical Program Committee. The Award Committee then asked a panel of experts in each field for an expert evaluation. Screening through the qualification requirements ¾ originality and significance of the results ¾ and based on the 7 expert evaluations, the Committee recommended that Mr. Huang’s paper as 2008 Best Student Paper.
